Reception Music

Alright, lets try this again... I'm compiling a list of music and need YOUR help!

What is/was your special song?
What is your favorite song to dance to?
What song(s) is(are) a definite "do?"
What songs should we avoid?

In my eyes, music sets the ambiance.  BAD MUSIC = NO FUN.  Being the disorganized perfectionist that I am (yes, everything should just "happen" as I envision it with minimal effort!), I'm trying my best to stay on top of things.  Click the comments link below to leave your suggestions!  (I think it asks for a profile or something, just put anonymous, your name, etc.)

Happy music hunting!

My husband and I danced to "Sway" by Michael Buble, which is a song we really like, but after we finished all our dance lessons we were kind of sick of it. I would say a must is "At Last" by Etta James, it's such a romantic song! I also think "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang is a really fun song, but I've had some people disagree with me on that one. YMCA is one of those songs that everyone knows how to dance to, so I would also recommend that one. As far as songs to avoid, the usuals are The Chicken Dance and The Macarena. Hope that helps!

Hmmm such a hard call, I am one of those people who says "thats my favorite song!" 18 times a day to 18 different songs but as I have been thinking about this recently here goes:

some of my most favorite romantic songs:
anything by vitamin string quartet (almost anything)
beautiful by meshell ndegeocello
and the one I think is gonna be our first dance is the book of love by peter gabriel

For my reception, I'm doing a combination of Michael Buble, norah jones, harry connick Jr.
For the fun group-dancing songs: Cha-cha slide, Shout, Twist, Twist & Shout and YMCA-- stuff like that!
i'm trying to stay away from twangy-country stuff. A few songs might slip through the cracks, but not a lot!

I think our first dance will be "At Last"
and the father/daughter dance will be "My Girl"
